Lisbon Docs–International Financing and Co-production Forum is one of the main workshop & pitching events for documentary in Portugal. In its 19th edition, it establishes itself as a reference for professionals looking for new tools and strategies to finance and co-produce their documentary projects.

The International Forum is organised by Apordoc–Portuguese Documentary Association and EDN-European Documentary Network, with the support of MEDIA Creative Europe Programme and ICA – Portuguese Audiovisual Institute/ Portuguese Government–State Secretariat for Culture.

Experts Pitching Sessions:
Financiers, representatives of European television channels and distributors come to the Culturgest’s Small Auditorium to receive the 23 projects of the LD 18 meeting.
From 14th to 18th October, our selected groups will work with 8 professionals of excellence who accompany them in the improvement of their projects. These will be presented the 19th and 20th to 10 panelists.

Our partners help us make Lisbon Docs’ week richer and more flavorful, giving us the opportunity to harmonize the representativeness of brands with high consumer confidence with our vision of a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.
Over the course of a week our guests and participants will be able to count on a selection of products served at Culturgest. An open air welcome drink and coffee breaks twice a day are necessary for the workshop days with the tutors where strategies are developed to be presented at the apogee of the event - pitching before the panel of experts.

Pitching Sessions
Culturgest Small Auditorium
October, 19 and 20

After three days of workshop the participants present their documentary film projects to potential financiers and co-producers. The panel of experts features professionals coming from well known companies and institutions. After each pitching session, participants have the opportunity to meet individually with the panel experts to discuss potential collaborations.

Pitching sessions are open to the general public and entrance is free limited to the number of available seats.

Tickets must be collected before each session, when entering the auditorium.

How can I apply?

Applications for Lisbon Docs 2018 are open until July, 30.

To present a project, candidates must send to

Download our Lisbon Docs application form and complete all required fields.;

a two-page presentation (including synopsis, state of development, budget and contact information);

visual materials of the film (stills, trailer or film clips).

Participation fee is €350 per project and €250 for each additional participant. Apordoc associates benefit from a 20% discount. EDN members receive a discount of 100 Euro on the participation fee for the first person connected to a project and 50 Euro for the second and third person of the project team (if attending with more than one person).

I don’t have a documentary project, but I would like to participate on the Forum. Can I apply?

Every year Lisbon Docs reserves a number of seats for those interested in attending the workshop without a film project.

To apply for an observer seat, candidates must send to

a professional and/or academic resume;

a motivation letter.

What is The Lab?

Lisbon Docs–International Financing and Co-production Forum for Documentary presents the 4rd edition of its development lab. THE LAB is an intensive training event open to all those aiming to develop their documentary film projects.

Who are the tutors?

The participants of THE LAB count with the presence of two excellent professional tutors, the director Graça Castanheira and the producer of Docdays, Antje Boehmert.

How can I submit?

The submissions are open until 3th July 2018 and is limied to 20 participants.

These documents should be submitted in English to

a document presenting the idea of your film;

any kind of exploring materials with were part of the developing process (resume or .p.e. fotos, sound, footage excerpts ...);

production planning/schedule and state of development;

bio-/fimography of the participant;

motivation for participating in THE LAB.

The participation fee is 50€ or 25€ (estudantes e sócios Apordoc).
